Ingram Barge Company

Ingram Barge Company recently made a generous contribution to the River Discovery Center. Because of this, our Skippers program is coming back to the classroom! Skippers is a customizable educational program that emphasizes the importance of the river and towing industry. Through this program, students will build their own barge, drive our boat simulator, and participate in “deck school” where they learn how to be a deckhand. Students are able to hear personal accounts from river industry employees. Because of Ingram’s contribution, this is a free program to all schools, and we are so glad to be able to offer something so unique. Because of programs such as Skippers, we are able to bring maritime career awareness to students that they may not otherwise receive.
