Chairman, Nathan Rowton

To many, he is a friend, mentor, supporter, but more importantly, family. Nathan Rowton was born and raised in Paducah, KY. After graduating from Paducah Tilghman High School, Nathan went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Murray State University in 1988. Ten years later, he received his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Toledo. Today, you will find Nathan at MrCool Franchising, LLC, where he serves as the president.

During his time off, he loves to play tennis. On occasion, you may find him on a boat, on the golf course, or in a hunting stand; however, for Nathan, there is nothing quite like spending time with his sons and grandson.

Although Nathan has lived in 10 different states, he has made his home here in Paducah, KY. When asked why, Nathan said, “I like the people. Paducah is a warm and friendly town and a great place to raise a family – a town where everyone knows your name.”

As a board member, Nathan’s favorite aspect is “being a part of telling the river story and its great history, as well as sharing the economic impact of the towboat and barge industry.” Nathan hopes to see our center “grow and become a self-sustaining museum and educational center.”

During Nathan’s time as Chairman of our Board of Directors, the world was faced with the COVID-19 pandemic, but Nathan was resilient and supported our museum through strenuous transitions, from closing our doors to reopening months later with limited capacity. Still, as we emerge hopeful from the pandemic, Nathan offers his guidance and encouragement. We applaud and thank Nathan for his hard work and dedication not only to River Discovery Center, but to the city of Paducah.
